At the start of the holiday, the Saint Andrew’s under-13 A rugby team from Bloemfontein, enjoyed a tour to Sportweni on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast where they played three matches.
In their first match, Saints took on Futurum Academy from Jan Kempdorp and ran out convincing 43-5 winners.
Their second game, against Midstream Ridge Primary was a far tighter affair. Saint Andrew’s scored from the kick off through Nirvaan Kiwiedo, but the Pretoria school dominated the rest of the half, scoring three tries before Saints dotted down again just before the break, making it 10-15 at half-time.
In the second half, Midstream kicked two penalties before scoring a try to go up 26-10 with 15 minutes to play.
The Saints’ bench then had a strong impact as the Bloem boys scored two tries, one of them converted. A last minute attack came up just short, leaving Midstream the winners by 26 points to 22.
On the last day, Saint Andrew’s took on Dawid Brink from Rustenburg. Saints fought all the way, but the school from the North West had their number, recording a 41-19 victory.
Well done, guys.
