These learners from Grey College recently competed in the “Green & Cleanest municipality competition” for 2016, hosted by Department of Economic, Small business development, Tourism and Environmental affairs.
They had to compile a presentation stating what they thought they could do to optimise the utilisation of the available water in a very dry climate.
They boys did their research on “Hydroponica” (the process of growing plants in sand, gravel, or liquid, with added nutrients but without soil), water friendly plants, infield-rainwater harvesting, as well as the usage of grey water for irrigation and household purposes.
They received the award for 2nd runner up.
