Saints Music Celebration 16 September 2017

Saints Music Celebration on Saturday 16 September 2017, is to celebrate music at Saints.  We have students from Grade 2 through to Grade 12 playing.  Our Little Saints choir (Gr 2,3) will also be singing with in one or two items.  The Eunice Marimba band will be joining the fun.  We are wanting to showcase our students’ talents. St Andrew’s in Bloemfontein won the Free State squash title for a seventh year in succession

After winning the Free State title for a seventh year in succession, Saint Andrew’s represented the province at the annual Top Schools Squash Tournament in Pietermaritzburg recently. While Grey High School of Port Elizabeth were the clear number one team, the battle between the remainder of the schools was exceptionally hard-fought. Beginning against Gauteng champions, Saint John’s College, Saints ran out comfortable 4-1 winners. They followed up on that victory with a 4-2 success against Rondebosch Boys High. St Andrew’s in Bloemfontein captured three Bloemfontein B-League rugby titles

Three Saint Andrew’s rugby teams exhibited remarkable improvements on their way to capturing three Bloemfontein B-League rugby titles at the University of the Free State on 12 August. Saints’ run of success began with their under-15 A team, which recorded a convincing 39-10 victory over Brandfort after having edged the same team 23-19 earlier in the season. There was an astonishing turnaround for the school’s 2nd XV, which took on Reddersburg in their league final. Saint Andrew’s in Bloemfontein winner of round two of the Bloemfontein Grade 10 Science Olympiad

The Saint Andrew’s team of Spencer Lee, Sizwe Letanta, Asterios Tsiftsis and Bradley Smith were the winners of round two of the Bloemfontein Grade 10 Science Olympiad, edging out tough opposition, including Eunice, Grey College and Saint Michael’s to claim the honours. The Saints’ boys answered 43 out of 45 questions correctly, but were matched by Grey College. A tie-breaking question was then posed and when Saint Andrew’s answered correctly and Grey did not the Saints’ quartet emerged victorious. Dan Patlansky inspires Saints Music Academy duo

Saints Music Academy members Jesse Berlyn and Chesare De Abreu made excellent use of their holidays by travelling to beautiful Clarens to spend a weekend with South African guitar virtuoso Dan Patlansky. “It was about him teaching us new ways of playing the guitar, how we can approach the guitar, how we can approach soloing, about different techniques we can use, and different ways of playing chords,” Chesare explained.
